What the system had to solve

The platform had to support public health content and private member tools for two distinct care contexts—people and pets—without fragmenting the system.

Engineering

Decisions that shaped the build

  1. Designed a broad Express and MongoDB API across health content, member records, payments, and administration.
  2. Integrated OpenAI Assistants with conversation threads and file attachments.
  3. Implemented RS256 authentication, email verification, and role-aware authorization.
  4. Built S3 image processing, CloudFront delivery, and the production deployment workflow.

Outcome

What the work delivered
